88th Annual Banquet - John V. Ryan Memorial Hall
Saturday, April 18, 2009
This evening the Holloway Terrace Fire Company celebrated its 88th annual banquet. The banquet started with a welcome from Master of Ceremonies Director Ed Barlow and invocation led by Secretary Terri Reed. Dinner was prepared and served by our very own Ladies Auxiliary and was a wonderful meal as always. The program started after dinner with an introduction of guests and our 2008 Administrative Officers, Line Officers, and Ladies Auxiliary Officers. The Ladies Auxiliary presented their service awards for hours worked as well as years of service awards. Ladies Auxiliary President Millie Garcia presented President Mark Gott with a gift for $35,000.00 and for their hard work and dedication to the firehouse the Ladies have been presented with an annual trip, location to be determined at a later date. President Gott presented a 20 year Life Member award to Assistant Chief Rob Snyder, 40 years of service award to Anthony Riccio Sr., and 60 years of service award to Leon (Chick) Heller. Member of the year was then presented to three members Richard Weaver Sr., Kenneth (Satch) Logan, and William Logan Sr. for their combined hard work on preparing a grant for our Fireboat. This years Presidents Award was given to Richard Weaver Sr. for his hard work and dedication to the firehouse and all of his years serving as a Board of Director. President Gott presented Chief Paul Maxwell and Chief Emeritus Joe Cochran Sr. with Chiefs rings for their lengths of service as the Fire Chief. Chief Maxwell presented a gift to all the members who made over 200 alarms for the 2008 year. The Chiefs Award was presented to Jeremiah Heaps for his dedication and service for work done around the firehouse. The Firefighter of the year was awarded with a twist this year. Usually a Line Officer is exempt from this award but Chief Maxwell decided that this year would be different. Deputy Chief Mark Willis, Assistant Chief Rob Snyder, and Assistant Chief Bob Maxwell were awarded the Firefighter of the year award for their dedication and service to the fire company. The presentations were concluded with a benediction conducted by Secretary Terri Reed and a moment of silence was observed for remembrance of our deceased members and all emergency service workers. The rest of the night was filled with fun, friends, and dancing. We would like to thank the Minquadale Fire Company for providing the cover-up assignment so we could enjoy the nights festivities.
